Houston’s Lighting Specialists | 50+ Years of Illuminating Homes, Art & Architecture
For more than 50 years, Laymance Lighting has been Houston’s trusted source for expert lighting design, installation, and service. What started as a specialty in fine art projection lighting has grown into a full-service lighting company serving homeowners, interior designers, architects, builders, and commercial property owners throughout Greater Houston.
Laymance Lighting was built on a simple belief: lighting should do more than illuminate a room. It should enhance what matters most – your art, your architecture, your family’s daily living, and the beauty of your outdoor spaces.
Founded in Houston, Texas, our team has spent five decades developing deep expertise in lighting design that most companies never acquire. Our roots in fine art and museum-quality lighting give us a perspective that is rare in the industry: we understand light the way a curator does – how angle, intensity, color temperature, and placement work together to make the extraordinary possible.
Today, that same expertise goes into every residential, commercial, and landscape lighting project we take on.

Both. We are a design-first lighting company, which means we help you plan the right system before we install anything. We work with you – and alongside your interior designer, architect, or builder when applicable – to develop a lighting plan that enhances your space beautifully and functions the way you need it to.
We work closely with licensed electricians and can coordinate that relationship for you. For many projects, especially low-voltage landscape lighting and fixture replacements, our team handles the full scope. We’ll be upfront with you during the consultation about what’s needed.
Whether it’s for safety or curb appeal reasons, yes, we can help with outdoor/landscape lighting with low-voltage systems that transform your spaces after dark.
We recommend an annual lighting safety check for most homes, and monthly checks for properties with extensive outdoor systems or fine art lighting. Regular maintenance catches small issues – loose connections, failing transformers, misaligned fixtures -before they become expensive problems.
Our technicians inspect interior and exterior fixtures, check photo cells and timers, test for electrical issues, replace any failed bulbs or components, and provide you with a full report on the condition of your system. Think of it as a physical for your home’s lighting.
Whether it’s for safety or curb appeal reasons, yes, we can help with outdoor/landscape lighting with low-voltage systems that transform your spaces after dark.
Low-voltage lighting systems operate at 12 volts rather than standard 120-volt household current. They use significantly less energy, are safer to install and maintain, and are specifically designed for outdoor environments. They’re also far more flexible – easy to adjust, expand, or reposition as your landscaping evolves.
Absolutely. Collaborating with designers, architects, and builders is one of our specialties. Many of Houston’s leading design and build professionals rely on Laymance Lighting as their preferred lighting partner because we know how to support a larger design vision without overcomplicating the process.
We can do as much or as little as you need. Some clients come to us with a clear vision and a fixture list — we execute it. Others want full design guidance from start to finish. We’re comfortable in either role and everything in between.
Yes. We work regularly with property managers, commercial landlords, HOAs, and facilities teams on everything from routine maintenance contracts to full lighting redesigns for common areas, lobbies, and exterior spaces.
Absolutely. Commercial LED retrofits typically reduce lighting energy consumption by 50–75% compared to older fluorescent or HID systems. We assess your current setup, identify the highest-impact upgrades, and give you a clear picture of expected savings before any work begins.
LED lighting typically uses 75–80% less energy than incandescent lighting and lasts significantly longer, reducing both your utility bills and replacement costs. The exact savings depend on the size of your home, how many fixtures are updated, and how often your lighting is in use. We’re happy to walk through the potential savings during your consultation.
A track light throws a general beam of light in a general direction. A framing projector uses precision optics -adjustable shutters and lenses – to shape the beam exactly to the edges of your artwork. No spill, no glare, no hot spots. It’s the difference between floodlighting a painting and truly illuminating it.
Yes. Three-dimensional art actually benefits enormously from thoughtful lighting. Proper angle, intensity, and layering of light sources bring out texture, depth, and dimension in ways that flat overhead lighting simply cannot.
Yes. Not only can we install, we will purchase the lights, install, take down AND store for next year!
